My June TBR

Hello people,

I hope you are all doing well ❤

Okay, first of all 2021 needs to chill, its already June and that’s Crazy!

And so I am here to share my June TBR with everyone. Its a little ambitious but fingers crossed.

Arcs

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with the ARC’s.

  1. Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé – From what I know about this book, its a dark academia(ish) thriller with gossip girl vibes. Its queer and does a powerful commentary of racism and homophobia. And that’s all I need to know. It has been getting so many positive reviews and y’all, I am hyped!
  2. She who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan – This book became one of my most anticipated 2021 releases the moment I saw Mulan meets The Song of Achilles in the synopsis. Its a queer and bold reimagining of the founding emperor of The Ming Dynasty. And I am so thankful for the ARC. I just know I am going to love this!

June releases

3. The Chosen and The Beautiful by Nghi Vo – This is a Great Gatsby retelling with a historical setting. It has magicians, dazzling illusions, lost ghosts and elemental mysteries. I have read and enjoyed Nghi Vo’s previous works so hopefully I will love this too.

4. The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid  – This is an adult fantasy novel that reads like The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden, that immediately bought this book on my attention since I enjoyed the other book so much. This book is inspired by Hungarian history and Jewish mythology, none of which I think I have read before so I am very excited to see what I feel about this one.

Finishing Trilogies

5. The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson – Both book 1 and 2 of the Mistborn trilogy were 4.5 stars for me so I am really really hoping to give this one 5 stars. Mistborn trilogy has one of the best magic systems I have read about and I also love the characters and the world so much. I am excited and sad for this book at the same time! Also, that cover is so pretty.

6. The Burning God by R.F. Kuang – Ah let me just start by saying that I AM SCARED. I have loved the first two books but I am so scared to pick this one. Please be good to me and don’t hurt me.

7. The Kingdom of Gods by N.K. Jemisin – I finally read N.K. Jemisin for the first time this year and while I know her writing is not for everyone, it certainly was for me. I loved the unique style by which she portrays the story. Both first books got 4 stars from me, I love the concept of this trilogy so much. I mean Gods enslaved by Humans? I hope to enjoy this one!

Others

8. Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto – The first thing that attracted to me about this book was the stunning cover. I don’t know much about it apart from that it has Sibling dynamics and Phoenix riders? Honestly that’s enough for me to give this one a try.

9. The Haunting of Tram Car 015 by P. Djèlí Clark – I read the author’s previous work ‘A dead djinn and Cairo’ and honestly I quite enjoyed that one. I really liked the setting and the murder mystery ! The author came up with her first full novel ‘A master of Djinn’ set in the same world so I am hoping to read this novella in June and get on with the new book in July! I have such good feeling about this one.

10. The councilor by E.J. Beaton – I don’t know why haven’t I gotten to this one yet but okay its not too late not read it now. This is a Machiavellian fantasy that follows a scholar’s quest to choose the next ruler of her kingdom amidst lies, conspiracy, and assassination. And that sounds like something I am going to loveeeee.

11. Luck of the Titanic by Stacey Lee – The synopsis of this book has been staying on my mind rent free ever since I read it. I mean it follows twin British – Chinese acrobats traveling aboard the Titanic on its ill fated maiden voyage. I am so excited to see how Stacey Lee has delivered this one and also the colors in the cover are so pretty.

So, this is my ambitious June TBR, I usually read 8 books a month but we all know how the saying goes ‘too many books and too little time’. I am excited for all these books! What are some of the books you want to read in June?

Also, I redesigned my Blog a little, I am still new at this so I would appreciate some feedbacks.

See you later, Thanks for reading!

  3. This is a great TBR! I still need to set mine for the month, I’ve had a busy start 🙈 I definitely have She Who Became the Sun on mine too! I think you’ll enjoy The Wolf and the Woodsman it’s a very different one, but I really enjoyed it even without knowing anything about Hungarian history!
